Walking Wisely in Christ: Reflections on Col 2:16-23

This week we explored Colossians 2:16-23, emphasizing the importance of walking wisely, centered on Christ together. The passage highlighted the dangers we face from false teachings and self-centered living, the need for discernment in who we allow to influence us, and the direction we should walk as followers of Christ. This passage has significant implications for how we order our lives and grow together as a church body.
Takeaways:
- Beware the danger of self-centered living: We must be vigilant against the temptation to put ourselves at the center of our lives instead of Christ. This can manifest in seemingly small ways, like how we speak or make decisions.
- Exercise discernment in spiritual influences: We need wisdom in choosing who we listen to and allow to speak into our lives. Not every voice claiming to be Christian is truly leading us closer to Christ.
- Walk Christ-centered together: Our Christian walk is not meant to be solitary. We are called to be Christ-centered in community, supporting and encouraging one another in our spiritual growth.
As we move forward this week, let's reflect on how we can practically apply these truths. How can we ensure Christ remains at the center of our daily decisions? In what ways can we better support and encourage one another in our spiritual walks?
May we continue to grow together in Christ, holding fast to Him as our head and source of nourishment.
In His grace,
The NLBC Elders
