If There Is No Resurrection

the-empty-tomb-gyntThe bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead is the foundation of our faith. It's not the icing on the doctrinal cake, it is the cake. The apostle Paul gives us a list of the detrimental consequences if there would be no resurrection.

If there is no resurrection from the dead then:

  • Christ has not been raised
  • Our preaching is useless
  • Our faith is empty
  • We are misrepresenting God
  • We are still stuck in our sins
  • Believers who have died are lost forever
  • We ourselves have no hope beyond the grave
  • And of all people we are most to be pitied (1 Cor. 15:12-19)

BUT: “He is not here, for He is Risen!” (Mat. 28:6). Therefore:

  • Our preaching is effective
  • Our faith is robust, overflowing with meaning
  • We are revealing the one and true God
  • We have been freed from our sins
  • Fellow believers who have died are with Christ
  • We can be absolutely certain that death doesn’t have the last word
  • We are the most blessed people on the face of this earth!
