Colossians Ep.2

Aug 3, 2025    Pastor Daniel Sargent

Summary:

In Colossians 1:1-8, the apostle Paul draws us to our new identity in Christ. By God's grace through faith in the gospel, we have been given a new identity that should define and direct our lives. This identity encompasses three key aspects: our new citizenship in Christ, our new family in Christ, and our new hope in Christ.

Takeaways:

- Our citizenship is now most primarily in Christ's kingdom, not in this world. We are called to live as those set apart for Him.

- We have a new family in Christ, with God as our Father and fellow believers as our brothers and sisters. This should shape how we relate to God and to one another.

- Our hope is securely laid up in Christ, both for the present and the future. This hope should anchor us through life's challenges and shape our perspective on everything.
